Chairman's Letter - February 2009

Croeso Welcome to you all, well I hope you have been out and about taking photos of the wintry conditions we have been having lately. I am sure we will be seeing them next season.\r\n\r\nReferring to next season I would like to know your thoughts on changes to competitions, I would like to hear what your thoughts are. The following are my thoughts on this matter:- I think the time has come for the club to seriously consider separating the prints from the projected images. The reason I have come to this conclusion is that entries for the projected images have increased to such a level its taking far too long for the judge to give his views and comments on each picture in each format in the time they have been allocate; for me to thank them for their time and comments given; keeping the equipment and tidying the room for the next day. It takes us past the 10.00 pm slot. We must remember as new members join each year competition entries are going to increase making it much more difficult to get through.\r\n\r\nI therefore suggest that we separate the nine competitions, by making five competitions projected images only, and four competitions prints only, so we can have half before the break, and half after the break, also it would make it much easier for the equipment Officer as he would not require all the equipment to be used on the same evening. \r\n\r\nPersonally since I joined the club six years ago I have thought it very unfair to members who come first in each format when, at the end of judging, the judge has to come to a decision to which one he gives the trophy too, projected image or print. By separating them it would mean whoever comes first in internal competitions would receive a trophy. So please let’s have your thoughts which then can be discussed by members at the A.G.M, and hopefully be changed in some way to speed the system up.\r\n\r\nI would like to remind you all, we will require for next season a Chairman, Vice Chairman, Treasurer and a members rep. If you feel you would like to stand for a post on the Committee please let us know, the closing date for names will be 25th March for voting at the AGM.\r\n\r\nThe Selection Committee would like more pictures Projected, Slides, and Prints, for our external competitions. If you have got pictures please let our Selection Committee know, they can do with more variety. So, from now until next season get clicking, so they can accumulate a stock to pick from, your help in this matter would be most appreciated thanks.\r\n\r\nA Foulkes.\r\n\r\n
