November Chairperson’s Newsletter
What an exciting month October has been for our club! Two more competitions been and gone, a fabulous evening with Graham Hembrough who gave us a fascinating insight to Photoshop and of course the Auction, which raised £150 towards club funds, thank you Gerry for organising this.
Moving on to November, the dark nights are now with us and soon the frost and the snow, so hopefully we can start to take some magical photographs of our beautiful countryside. Tom Dodd is visiting our club on 18 November to give us a lecture on Landscapes. Please note everyone I have now purchased a tripod, all I need is someone to show me how to use it!
In respect of competitions on 4 November there is a competition entitled Dereliction and I have been reliably informed that there are some very interesting prints to be seen especially from our junior members and I am sure that John Roberts, who is kindly judging it for us, is going to have a hard job in picking the winner.
The Selection Committee have been very busy trawling through images and have come up with some exceptional ones for our annual Battle against Llanrwst, which is to be held in Llandudno this year on 12 November and we will be welcoming Alan Paterson as judge. The Selection Committee still urgently need more of your unseen images in order that they can be considered for entry in the prestigious outside competitions.
Hopefully, you are all busy getting some ‘fun’ photographs for our special night on 16 December, I dread to think about some of the photographs some club members have taken of me which may appear!
All that remains to be said is, I look forward to seeing you all at our regular Wednesday night meetings and happy ‘clicking’.

Society’s Exhibition Opens at Venue Cymru.
On Tuesday 3rd March Llandudno Photographic Society in conjunction with San Siôr School welcomed Councillor Billy and Mrs Awena Evans the Mayor and Mayoress of Llandudno to the opening of their photographic exhibition at the prestigious Venue Cymru Theatre on the Promenade at Llandudno, which will run for the period up to and including 1st May 2009.
We also welcomed Councillor Glyn Jones the Chairman of Conwy County Council together with the new president of the NWPA, David Flitcroft and his wife Anne.
Ian Jones, the headmaster of San Sior School, Church Walks Llandudno, where the club holds its weekly meetings, gave the opening address in Welsh, followed by a welcoming speech in English by the Vice Chairman Rob Patterson.
Four children represented San Sior School, including one young lady who presented the Mayoress, Mrs Awena Evens with a posy of flowers. Her husband the Mayor then formally opened the proceedings.
Seventy-nine pictures are exhibited, sixty-two from LLPS and seventeen from the junior members of the club, whose ages range from four to eleven years.
All the dignitaries were very impressed with the quality and diversity of the photography, and wished the club a successful exhibition.
