Rules For Competition Entry

Rules

It is important that all competition entries conform to the following rules:

To enter a competition a member must have paid their subscription fees.

Prints

The only information required on your prints is the title and your LLPS number, which should be positioned in the top centre on the reverse of the print. Under no circumstances should there be any indication of your identity. The backing board of the mount should be firmly affixed and the label containing the required information should also be firmly fixed to it*.

Digital Images on Memory Sticks

As above, the title followed by your LLPS number should be the only information shown. The image should have a maximum size of 1400 × 1050 at 72dpi. See below for further details about resizing digital images.

Slides

Slides should be clean and dust-free with the appropriate information printed on the slide with a marker pen. No sticky pieces of paper please. A red adhesive circle should be placed in the bottom left-hand corner to indicate the way the slide is to be viewed.

Projected Images

The maximum number of projected entries per competition is two slides or two digital projected images or one slide and one digital projected image. Projected images can be either colour or black and white.

Slides

Slides must be securely mounted in 2″ × 3″ mount (no glass) with the title and your membership number written on the mount (no stickers). With the picture the right way up a red spot should be placed in the bottom lefthand corner.

Digital Projected Images

Digital projected images must be supplied as JPEG files. Images must be resized to fit within a 1400 × 1050 pixel size.

If your image is in landscape format then you should resize it so that it is 1400 pixels wide

Portrait images should be resized so that they 1050 pixels high.

Name your image with its title, followed by a dash and your LLPS membership number, for example big_red_phonebox-LLPS77.jpg If you are a junior member put a ‘J’ after your membership number, e.g. small_red_phonebox-LLPS77J.jpg.

Prints

The maximum number of print entries per competitor is two coloured or two black and white or one of each.

Print Sizes

The minimum size for print images is 18cm x 13cm excluding the mount. The maximum size is 50cm x 40cm including the mount. Prints must be marked in the back with the title and your membership number.

Trade processed prints may be so noted on the rear of the mount for the correct assessment of the judge, both for Black and white and colour.

Scoring

The points awarded for the internal record of members’ success are shown below. Points only apply to competitions held by the society.

Whereas every care will be taken of competition material submitted, neither the Society nor its Officers can be held responsible for any damage to the material as this could have occurred anywhere.

Subjects for the competitions to be held in the ensuing year, selected from a list presented at the Annual General Meeting and the final choice made by the Committee.

Provision of anonymity for competitors will be by entering the number provided on the members membership card on each entry.
